I had a pleasant trip over the first day of Hari Raya where we went to nearby Pontian and Kukup for a day trip. It's really been awhile since I last went there and it's really great to drive back there again! I especially love the quiet journey with not many cars on the road and the drizzles also helps to cool the weather down.
We first reached Pontian for lunch and check out a newly opened Nyonya restaurant. We ordered four dishes, sambal petai, lady's fingers &brinjal, fried chicken in mayonaise and asam fish, and two desserts which costs around RM46, quite reasonable. Check out the food here and click on it to enlarge.
It's another 30 minutes drive from Pontian (if you are driving slow like me) before we reached Kukup. Well, Kukup is a fishing village but has become a great attraction all along especially for Singaporeans and JB folks! Mostly the tourists likes to experience the kind of life staying in an actual fisherman house, above the sea. And, the food there is superb where for RM50 per head which includes accomodation and meals, you can enjoyed a variety of fresh seafood there and mostly buffet style!
It's quite nice to walk around the neighborhood and checking out the stuffs that they sold along the way, though I don't quite like the fishy smell. It was real crowded over the weekend where the school holidays and Hari Raya clashed and the crowd lits up the atmosphere over there. Some family pixs taken as below.
Though I have been there a few times years ago, I never really went near to the houses by the sea. However, I did that this time round and had a refreshing time viewing the sea, the fishermen's boats, birds and the kelongs.
It's been a great day trip, and it took me around an hour to reach JB from Kukup. It's very refreshing indeed to get away from the city and work!
Have a great weekend folks!
