Before I went into hibernation at this point of time last year, I used to post lots of Japanese food especially ramen. Well, I thought why not I do another one in this post since I just patronised the grand Warakuya Restaurant last weekend.

It really looks grand outside and spacious!
The restaurant - Folks waiting for their seats while they served free tidbits, fruits and beverages. There's even a small shop selling Japanese stuffs and three massage chairs for tired legs.
If you are coming on weekends, it's best to do an advance booking but still, there is some waiting time. We waited almost 40 mins even though we called in to book. And, now the food ....

Some specialty sushi

Japanese Pizza ... it's crunchy with full of seaweed taste!

Assorted sushi and sashimi

Fried rice and Cold Soba
Cawanmushi ....our favourite
The food really tasted good and to me,  it's one of the better Japanese restaurant in JB. I understand they have three branches here in Permas Jaya, Taman Pelangi and Mount Austin. Will visit the other two when I am free. Have a great week!!

It's the last month of 2014 and how time flies! So, how was everybody's plans for this month, which is considered a sabbatical month for most of us. I will be on leave soon having taken leaves for this month, just today. I really had a lot of annual leaves this year and it's better I cleared some of it besides carrying forward the rest to next year. Anyway, it's the time to wind down, enjoy the festive mood and the cool weather.

And speaking of cool weather , I decided to have a hot beef sukiyaki as well as some sushi maki tonight, after a long workout and run. It's so comforting to eat something boiling on a rainy night.

Have a good week!! :)

1. I was at Orchard Road to settle some work duties and once I reached there , I immediately felt the Xmas mood! Too bad I didn't have the time to get out of the building to walk around the street in order to check out the decor. However, the decor at Orchard Central and Orchard Gateway malls are attractive! I will check out the lights and decors at Orchard Road soon!

 A decor at Orchard Central

Another one at Orchard Central too, which is besides Orchard Gateway
2. Somehow I felt a bit anxious about a potential vacation in a nearby country and kept asking my wifey if her sister has already booked it for us in JB, and I got an earful from my wifey... hahaha...  Too bad, she's in Singapore and I probably gotta wait for the weekend to confirm the trip. My SIL is a well-travelled lady and she's got a lot of 'lobangs' (contacts). If else, my plan B would be in Malaysia, probably go back to Ipoh and bring my parents to Cameron Highlands for a 3 day 2 nights stay or Pangkor Island. It's been a while since I have been there.

3. I have been  training for my 10km Standard Chartered Quarter-marathon lately after my weights workout. It will be held in 2 weeks time. My training is simple, I just continue to run 5KM as usual daily but may  increase slightly to 6km if possible. I will try to run in the morning from now onwards in order to get use to the morning marathon and that will be a challenge to me as I am not a morning person. Waking up at 6am or even 7am can be tough, thanks to my teleworking where I am not required to be in office all the time.

With all these trainings, I think there's no harm to reward myself with a Shokado Wazen Bento, which is my favourite and affordable bento at S$15.90. :) I think it's ok la...once in a blue moon ... :P

And, weekend is here with the school holidays! Have a good weekend!!

16.11.14

Well, I blogged about R.E.S.T in my previous post and I really did have a lot of 'R', which is rest over the rainy weekend. It was rain and rain over the past week and that makes us confined to home most of the time. And, when you are at home with nothing much to do, the slumber will usually creeps in. Not too bad as I complained about getting lack of sleep during the weekdays and moreover, I have a slight throat infections, thanks to a black pepper chicken chop I had on last thursday evening. It was a lazy weekend as we only go out for dinner after the rain stops. Anyway, thank God I managed to do a 5KM run on a beautiful Sunday evening after the rain.  It was cooling and the air was clean, unlike the previous week where it was hazy.

Well, we didn't go far for dinner and ended up with some Japanese food nearby.

Temaki for my wifey

We shared a sake and kani maki

My little princess' chawanmushi

And, my salmon shioyaki bento, with teriyaki chicken, edamane and agedashi tofu.
My kid shared another salmon teriyaki bento with his sister while my wifey was contented with ordering sushis and temakis. I didn't take the rest of the pixs as they are finding me annoying already, taking pictures of their food...hahah...

Have a good restful week!

30.6.14

I finally enjoyed a Sunday with my kid as it was a holiday today in Malaysia and to his delight, he was got an unexpected holiday on last Thursday which gave him a long weekend. I brought him to to his tuition, improvement classes and church school as usual and he got a surprise that there was a performance from his church school as he quickly pick up the moves during the rehearsal. My little princess was getting better after being down with hand foot and mouth disease earlier of the week. It was terrible for her as she can't even eat and drink due to the ulcers in her mouth few days ago. I can imagine how painful is it! Really poor thing.

Anyway, glad all these have cleared up and after a long day, we decided to have Japanese food for dinner to wind down. I ordered quite lot of food just for the four of us, two adults and two small kids.

A beautiful sushi platter for all

A closer shot at the ika sushi

A chawanmushi for my little princess

My sukiyaki beef bowl

Teriyaki salmon bento for my wifey to share with my little princess

Tempura which comes with a Udon for my kid

And , he can't wait to eat it before I snap the udon ...sigh...
It was a roller coaster week for my wifey who needed to take care of my little princess, day and night. I am glad at least I can drove them around today for a Sunday retreat at the malls as usually it is classes for my kid. How good if Johor weekends remains like last year. :)

21.12.13

Oh .. I discovered a new Japanese restaurant in Permas Jaya. Located at almost the corner of Jalan Permas 10, I thought it's a good idea to give it a try. After all, Permas Jaya is well-known for its Japanese restaurants!

Crispy Rolls - I told my wife it's more like Japanese Popiah

Salmon Sushi

Salmon Shioyaki

Salmon Shioyaki Set with chawanmushi, salad, and miso soup
I love the Salmon Shioyaki Set.... the salmon actually was quite thick and lots of meat. Well, not bad, and I guess I will patronise this place again. The place was also quite pleasant with friendly waitress though thery didn't wore Japanese type of uniform, like in many restaurants.

I always believe whenever you are faced with a stressful situation like decision-making and etc, it's better to calm down your mind so that you can make a better choice. I was kinda frustrated with some important decisions to make lately and being in a bad mood doesn't really help. Thus, I went for a run and the feel-good hormones really works, and then settled down for a nice Japanese dinner at Men-ichi Japanese Ramen, Northpoint, SG.

A must for me whenever I had Japanese food - Chawanmushi. And, Men-chi's chawanmushi are always one of the best!

'Paitan Tonkatsu Ramen' - when served

After I stirred it...
After taking a shower and feeling calmer than ever, I realised what's that so 'important' is not really that serious after all! Thus, this is the power of positive feeling.... instead of exaggerating the situation, look into the real perspective of the issue!

8.9.13

Last week was a busy week for me and I don't really find the time (or rather the mood) to blog. Anyway, glad it's weekend again and it was also my kid's birthday. I asked him what he wanted to have for dinner and he wanted Japanese food. It's a good idea too since he was down with a sore throat. Ok, with that, we head for Mori Restaurant in Permas Jaya, JB. Initially we wanted to go to Niyumaru, which was quite popular in JB but it was really crowded then when we reached there.

There was a 30% discount for all sushi in Mori and we ordered quite lot of sushi, just for three adults and two small ones. What I like this place was it's quiet and you can really relax and wind down there compared to Niyumaru. There were also a lot of Japanese patronising this restaurant.

Ebiki sushi and salmon maki - my kids' favourite

I ordered a fried rice .... I always love Japanese fried rice

Ebi Fry Maki

Salmon Yuzu Maki

Salmon Teriyaki Bento Set

Salmon and Muguro Sushi

Udon and tempura Bento Set
Overall, it was a lot of food for us and we have to slowly enjoyed the food and stayed longer at the restaurant, enjoying the relaxing atmosphere. I was really full!! Need to workout harder next week. :P
