I thought this was another local cafe with a Starbucks or Coffee Bean theme which operated by the Super Group, more known for their 3 in 1 coffee sold all over the country and Singapore. Located at the less popular Aeon Permas Jaya, their manufacturing plant was just 2KM away. It was only until I realised they served meals , and not just desserts to go along with the coffee.

The environment was pleasant with a few tables and sofas and it was relaxing dining there. After all, this Aeon was not as crowded as the other five Aeons in JB.

While running some groceries after fetching my kids from tuition nearby, we decided to try out the food there and  had brunch.  I guess this is the only or the first cafe that the Super Manufacturing Group opens.

A pancake and ice cream with chocolate syrup on top for my little princess

Aglio Olio for my wifey

My kid and I ordered a set each of their breakfast set.
Overall,  the food was great and I especially love the scramble eggs, which was also my kid's favourite. I definitely love their Americano, which was thick and slightly bitter which really perks me up for the day! After having a light breakfast, I considered this a brunch and it was a good one!

Have a good weekend!

2.7.15

Well, I was kinda under stress last weekend and I ended up having some comfort food. With a lousy mood, even my wifey doesn't dare to stop me with my orders as below.

Tom Yum soup ... not as authentic but good for a fix

Nasi Lemak with fried chicken

Chendol
Then, after the heavy meal, the can't think straight me stop by for durians despite a full stomach and chose two nice D101. Well, thanks to some basic skills of durian choosing from my in law, I managed to get two good ones which the seller even said if I buy more, I will take away all his good durians... ahem...self-compliment. Anyway, the D101 was fleshy, sweet and small seeds.

And, I complaint of gastric, stomach bloatedness and nauseating the evening , which handed me a MC. :( Lesson learn ... don't over-eat when stress... hahahah...

I got a strange question from one of my friends who followed my blog. Well, he asked me why my blog posts always started with a story and ends with food, especially Japanese food? hahaha... I told him every blogger has their own style of blogging, for example, some gorgeous ladies will posts their selfies and slim bods pixs on their blogs, the makan gurus will posts lots of foodie pixs and reviews, the sports fans will talk about and review their games and activities and so on and on. I actually started on food reviews since I always travelled around when my kids are younger but I don't have that luxury now since the kids have to go to schools.

Ok, btw, I had a simple Father's Day dinner where we had a simple Japanese meal, since the kids wanted to have it. Anyway, nothing grand yet for a young daddy like me .... hahahaha... no need a 10-course banquet yet.

Raw and cooked salmon sushi

Well, some folks did ask me how I spent my long weekend and I told them I actually went to Johor Premium Outlets to check out football kits. This is a good time to buy the just concluded football season's jerseys as you can fetch them at a good discounted price, since the new season's jersey are coming out.

To my disappointment, there was not many jerseys at both Adidas and Nike outlets and some of them are left with sizes that either too small or too big for me. I guess I am slightly slower where I should have gone earlier. Anyway, all is not lost as I got the Brazil World Cup kit for my kid and myself, an England World Cup kit for my little princess, a running shirt for myself and a Nike shirt for my kid.

And, not forgetting we had a nice brunch at the popular Hwa Mui Restaurant, which is famous for their Hainanese Chicken Chop. Anyway, due to the hot weather, we didn't order the chicken chop, though I would love to. Well, next time!

Last weekend was a relaxing weekend for me as it was a public holiday in Singapore on Monday while school holidays has started. That means we can break away from our usual routines as all my kids' enrichment classes are off. Though we didn't go anywhere far, it was great to be able to find some 'freedom' around and wind down, instead of rushing to send them to classes.

I thought of having steamboat on a Friday evening after returning back from work and the first place I thought of was Pavillion Steamboat in Taman Molek. I like this place, it was clean, air-conditioned, bright, good service and they gave away ice-cream potong. LOL  The food was not bad too as it was fresh and lots of ingredients given for the per head set meals.

Set for two persons as my kids can't eat much

Side orders - Bacon slices

Side order - Mushrooms

Side orders - Fish noodles

The accompany noodles that comes with the set

Side orders - Fried fishes

All ready to eat....yummy...
Pavillion steamboat restaurant is located at 106G Jalan Molek 2/2 Taman Molek 81100 Johor Bahru Johor.

I had a New Year resolution, which is to flatten my tummy.... and I have been putting in efforts to do more cardio exercise, besides my workouts and badminton session. And, to make it successful, I also needed to eat light but more meals. But then ....

Nasi Lemak with rendang chicken

Crispy fish fillet cooked in cereals with fries

'Siew Yok'
I had this over the weekend and I now know it's not easy to .... say no to good food. OK la... once a while.. hehehe....

I never really tried dry BKT but finally got a chance to eat it during my trip to KL over the raya holidays. I had a great BKT meal at Equine Park in Puchong. It was a large corner shop lot and they mainly served BKT.

Getting ready the fragrant chinese tea

The dry BKT
Somehow I find the dry version to be quite similar to the claypot salted fish with pork. It was also a little spicy. Anyway, it was great and very appetizing, though I still prefer the traditional soupy type.

The dished we ordered

Getting ready the garlic and chilli

Fried shark meat
The fried shark meat was special and it was crunchy. However, some parts of it seems a little bit hard, which I guess it could be the bones.

A healthy vegetable to go with the meat
I helped myself to the soupy BKT most of the time and even order extra soup. Well, maybe the dry type is not really to my liking. Anyway, BKT seems everywhere in the Klang valley and it's certainly a dish to try while you are there!

I have not been eating healthily recently but some food are really too hard to resist. Luckily, I workout 3-4 times a week...LOL. I was back at Stonegrill and ordered my favourite sirloin steak. It comes 'raw' but marinated with spices, some corns and fried rice.

The steak cooked very fast and you really have to twist and turn it till it was cooked, to your requirements. I prefer medium-well, but most of the time it became well-done.

When the steak was first served, it was raw....

After grilling it on the hot stone for a very short while...
Dipped in the black pepper sauce and you had a sinfully but delicious meal. Ok, time to go for a jog....!!

I think I found a better place for coffee. Located at the new stretch of shops in Taman Molek, the cafe seems hidden from the main street. The cafe was large, clean and pleasant as well as the aroma of coffee fills the entire cafe once you stepped in. There were also three pretty waitresses cum coffee makers there, which is a good reason for me to go back there. :P

Nice, beautiful cafe
Since it was lunch and my kids were still in tuition, my wife and I decided to have some bites here. We ordered something light which are ciabattas as well as each one of us got a cup of coffee. I preferred cappuccino as usual while my wife got a cup of latte.

My cup of cappuccino
The cappuccino was really good as it was smooth and it was very balance between creamer and coffee. The scent was strong too. There were some cappuccino which are too 'milky' while some tasted like freshly brewed coffee. This one is really great.

My ciabatta - Ham and cheese

Latte - looks the same but it's a bigger cup.
Overall, I think their coffee are better than those famous coffee outlets in the malls. Anyway, will return and try more. By the way, here's the address -  Just Want Coffee, Jalan Molek 1/5c,Taman Molek, JB.

Finally I tried Kim Gary's snowflakes dessert!! I have been to this branch at Tebrau City many times but I ended up ordering tea or coffee after the meals and seldom go for their desserts. To the delight of my kids, I ordered this chocolate and milo snowflakes. It was not very sweet and it was quite a big portion too. We have problems finishing it! Thumbs up for their snowflakes!

Chocolate and Milo desserts
Before that, I had their omelette rice and it was great too! Lots of shrimps, onions and meat! It does looks good right ?

Have a great mid-week!

26.7.13

This seems a fast week to me as it's weekend again! Well, it could be because I took a day off last Monday, thus I only worked for four days. :) Anyway, I am sure everybody had a fruitful week and it's time to give ourselves some pampering. Let's wind down over the weekend, whether driving to a nearby peaceful town, enjoying the sands and the sun, boozing, sports, movies, makan and etc. You truly deserve the rest and recuperation from all the hard work. Have a sabbatical weekend and heal yourself!

I will be looking forward to Breeks again in City Square, JB, as they served nice western food. Flipping through the menu already makes me salivating as there were so many types of western dishes. I wanted to try the BBQ big prawns someday. Meanwhile, I had this last Friday, Prime Sirloin Steak and Fried Chicken combo, with black pepper sauce. It was a big plate and I was really full! Coupled with an hot cuppa of Americano, it really makes up a good start to the weekend!

I had a great time with my badminton gang where we decided to have a gathering after work for a nice dinner at the well-known and expensive Jumbo seafood restaurant here. It's all thanks to one of my teammates who won a S$200 voucher at the recently concluded Li Ning Singapore Open badminton championship. Thus, he generously decided to buy us a dinner where we top up a little for the excess. There were five of us all. Anyway, good food aside, it's the company that we enjoyed most and it's always a good idea to have gatherings with friends regularly. I used to do that when I was a teen but now, due to work and family commitment, as well as my friends, seldom meet up. I guess I got to do this more often, to wind down, catch up and have fun! Here's some of the food we ordered from the 350++ set menu.

Appetizer - salad

Love this one ... big head prawn in oyster sauce. Each one of us get a plate.

A fresh steam fish

The dish of the day  - their famous chilli crabs

Dessert - Rockmelon sago
There was a plate of noodles and sotong which I didn't capture (shy...shy...hahaha). Again, it was a good time bonding with friends  and I will continue to do it. Well, maybe let's meet up with fellow bloggers in KL and Sarawak ? How about that ? :)
