Not quite a good start to 2015 as I sprained my ankle while playing badminton last Wednesday. I was playing my second singles match and the tie was already at 17-19. I moved backwards to retrieve an almost baseline lob from my friend and suddenly, my left foot just twist to one side. I immediately fall down on the court with a shout and my racket flying to the sidelines. hahah... The folks there were so anxious and running to check on me. Anyway, it was not so painful and I rubbed some cream on it. The pain subsides, though I can felt a bit discomfort while walking. However, I can walk normally after a short rest.
Saw the doc the next morning and it seems to be a minor sprain, not that serious and no swelling. My doc asked me not to play badminton for 2 weeks which I nodded. Then, the silly me asked her if I can continue running and the doc replied with stern 'No', except brisk walking. hahaha... Anyway, I took the anti-inflammation and painkillers and my feet seems to be back to normal again on that day itself. I will see how it goes where I may do some light jogging few days later.
Went to the gym and did only weights workout with some rowing for cardio. I felt so uncomfortable without the sweat... sigh ... I'm really addicted to the feel good feelings after a good workout and sweat.
Anyway, I went to Pastamania for a fix of a bacon aglio olio and a chicken soup to comfort the depressing me. :)
Chicken soup for the depressing soul... |
And bacon Aglio Olio with lots of cheese ...my comfort food |
Dont injure it again so better be good and listen to what doctor said. 2 weeks rest.
ReplyDeleteRose - Haha.. I did a light jog this evening, so far so good. Thanks for your concerns. :)
DeleteLuckily for you it was a minor sprain. I have sprained my ankle 3 times already and all times, very serious. Swelling and painful and took weeks to heal. So now I am very careful. Take care and make sure your ankle is fully recovered before you start your training again.
ReplyDeletePhong - Oh, how did you sprained it ? Three times and very serious is no joke. I guess your ankle could be weak too, as well as examined your shoes and analyse your foot type.
DeleteOh me oh my!!! No spring chicken already lah, time to slow down a bit. Better take care of that ankle - sometimes, the problem sets in when one grows older.
ReplyDeleteSTP - Yes, slowing down this week. Ran very slow today, around 9 mins/KM for 20 mins, just to sweat.
DeleteGet well soon and make sure you are fully well before running again.. Eat more but don't run more, hehe..
ReplyDeletePrincess - Guess I have no choice but to heed your eat more run less advice... hahaha
DeleteOh no do rest well and recover soon, take care
ReplyDeleteThanks Libby :)
DeleteI ever sprained my leg also while walking due to carelessness, very painful and takes very long to recover
ReplyDeleteLibby - It's normal to sprain our body parts in daily life whether got sports or not. Apparels were important too, like wearing the right and not worn out shoes.
DeleteSpeedy recovery!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lina.
DeleteSpeedy recovery!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sharon.
DeleteI ever sprained my leg while doing those group exercise in gym, but i didn't go see doctor , but instead i went for a rub in Chinatown...
ReplyDeleteSharon - Somehow I preferred western meds, as they are faster. I am ok with chinese meds but must ensure its a good one and not those anyhow anyhow... I went thru a bad experience with them.
DeleteNo chinese meds given, they only do the rubbing...
DeleteBetter rest completely..dont be stubborn like me... I cannot play anymore cos aggravate my shoulder each time I do... Take care !
ReplyDeleteReana - yeah, I am taking it slowly and easy. Definitely, stop badminton for 2 weeks as there are too many ankle movements. Just did light run.
Deletesorry to hear that... hope you are getting better by now!
ReplyDeleteKen - Thanks, getting better now. phew ..
Deleteaiyoyo, that's not good to sprain your ankle, but fortunately it's just a minor one and i guess that 2-week is just a safe buffer and your injury will be over soon.. speedy recovery to you!!!
ReplyDeleteSK - yeah, will stop badminton for 2 weeks as it involves a lot of ankle movements. After all, it's a common injury in badminton. Thanks!
Deletehehe, just take this chance to do some different routine in the gym, who knows you may discover something that you like more than running on the treadmill?? :p
ReplyDeleteSK - Yes, I will be doing cycling or rowing instead of running.
DeletePastamania!!! i have been there once, of course the on in KL but i think this restaurant has already closed down some years ago.. :p
ReplyDeleteSK - Its more like a fast food here and it closed quite late. Thus, not much choices when I had my dinner late.
DeleteSpeedy recovery and hope you will be able to run back soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks Yee Ling. I'm doing some light jogging now.
Deleteoh no...hope by not it had recover much liao
