Phew....my company's dinner and dance was finally over yesterday night. As one of the organising committee members who sat through meetings months before the actual event, it was really a relief to see a successful event completed, though I am not the overall Project Manager. The team really works hard especially on the actual event with lots of excitement as well as full of anxieties. I was so anxious when we are required to go up on stage for acknowledgement by our CEO as well as did some very, very minor moves and posed in front of 800 crowds behind the dancers.. LOL.... Anyway, since this is my company's events, I am not going to post any pics here but I really felt so relief and looking forward to year-end. Year end is always special to me!!
Back to my last weekend retreat, we patronised the popular Kota Tinggi's Bak Kut Teh again on a Sunday morning after my church service. The service started at 8am which means I needed to wake up at 7am on a lazy Sunday morning and though I can 'tahan' the service for an hour, the sermon was prolong to 10am and I almost felt asleep.... LOL Luckily, I still managed to drive for 45 mins to Kota Tinggi later. We were quite late around 11am+ and the crowds were building up. Some of the dishes were sold out and it's so difficult to find a table. It was a long wait before we were served and the soup seems to be too 'kao' (condensed) where it was slightly bitter. In my last trip, where we were early, the soup was just nice and thick enough. However, this time round, I guess the soup was finishing soon and it was slightly bitter due to over-brewed. It's still good and I guess some folks love the 'herbal-bitterness' taste.

Look at the crowd , some were still waiting to be seated. |
|
Tough finding a parking lot! |
|
Got served by some nice chinese tea in 'pu-erh' |
|
Claypot fried tofu - Very nice , the soup were same as the BKT |
|
Somehow I love this the most that day, a very delicious otak-otak |
|
The 'mei chai' also not bad... very soft. |
|
And, here's the main dish, their famous BKT. |
Meanwhile, I am looking forward to my off-day this Friday, just hang on for another two working days. :)
Oh! You went for bkt! I thought your company's dinner and dance so casual one...like beach party.
ReplyDeleteWhere's the PORK?
ReplyDeleteCongrats to organizing your company's dinner and dance well!
ReplyDeleteThe bak kut teh looks good, I like strong herbal taste.
Have a good week ahead!
Not easy being the organizing committee, lots of stuffs to "farn" one hor.. But glad it's over and everyone had a great time.. *A pat on your back*
ReplyDeleteEh, my colleague who goes back to his hometown in Melaka also always buys me that type of otak-otak, the square one.. I just steam and eat with rice, yummzzz !!
A nice reward gor yourself after a hectic time planning? :-)
ReplyDeleteThe otak caught my attention...
ReplyDeletesurely it feels like offloading a heavy stone you have been carrying in your shoulders after the D&D huh?? and it's great that your CEO acknowledge and recognize your team.. looking forward to year end?? meaning got extra increment for the committee?? haha~~ :p
ReplyDeleteKota Tinggi BKT as your weekend "retreat"?? or you mean weekend "treats" instead?? haha.. would be interesting if you had a BKT retreat leh, and surely a heaven for the foodies.. hihihi ^^
ReplyDeleteI am actually not a BKT person, but I gotta say your photos really look good and I feel like taking my spoon to scoop some soup and my chopsticks to "kiap" a piece of the tofu pok and beancurd sheet from there lor~~ :p
ReplyDeleteNice BKT! And my fav Japanese tofu. :)
ReplyDeleteWow..that's one really famous BKT place to check out. Look at the crowd.
ReplyDeleteGood that the company party ended well. Wah, BKT! I love that a lot but I won't want to go to a crowded place.
ReplyDeleteTheir BKT is kinda special, I think that's 'fu pei' on top?
ReplyDeleteOne whole pot of tofu pok????
ReplyDeleteI've bern there, done that. All the long months of sweat and meeting. haha. But it was fun to be the committee member too.
ReplyDeleteGood for you to have another two days to go...for us we've three days...always hope the weekdays is shorter then the weekend is longer...
ReplyDeleteYummy!!
ReplyDeleteHey, take me there next time when I "migrate"... hahaha...
ReplyDeleteI can never wake up that early on a Sunday...
ReplyDeleteYou reminded me of a joke about a priest and a taxi driver when both report at the Pearly Gates. Saint Peter checks his dossier the taxi driver passed but not the priest. The priest protested and Saint Peter explains.." When you preach at the sermon almost all the members go to sleep where else for this fast taxi driver all his passengers prayed very hard".
ReplyDeleteThis place must be very cool with the attap roofing and open space concept. Tofu in BKT soup should be nice so no cholesterol. Bananaz lup the BKT soup but not the huge chunky meat
ReplyDeleteYummy food! I also look forward to the year end and Christmas time! :)
ReplyDeleteA fabulously tasty dish.
