Short vacations ...

It's almost year-end and I guess this is a very busy time for most of us, until mid-November where the school holidays and holiday season arrived. Some of us also planning for their sabbatical rest for the year by travelling overseas or take long leaves to wind down.  It's always good to let go and relax after the long year but I guess taking short vacations from time to time is also beneficial. These getaways need not be expensive as well as far ones. Just have a staycation in a hotel nearby or drive 1-2 hours away from home will do. I believe instead of waiting for the long break during year-end, it's good to take a short break, maybe every quarter of the year.

I used to travel around by driving to nearby places like Melaka, KL, Desaru and some small towns locally when my kid haven't attend primary school yet. The farthest I went, besides my hometown Ipoh, is Sg. Lembing in Kuantan. I usually did it during those long weekends or just simply take a day off. If you have been following my blog, I went to Desaru two weeks ago after a long while since I have been there as well as take time off to travel. (Thanks to the new weekend in Johor).  The staycation was so nice and relaxing and I never felt so good after that.

I intend to start going for these short breaks next year. Oh...btw, I had a great but simple seafood dinner in Sg. Renggit near Desaru then.

Fried Fish... the skin was crunchy and love to dip the meat in the sauce.

Salted eggs flavour crabs.....everybody's favorite! The crabs are very fresh since it's near to the sea.

Another favorite dish, clam shells or lala.

And, a healthy vegetables to go with ....
Life need not be too stress and serious .... enjoy every moments of it whether at work or play! :)

  1. There is a saying that if you love your job/work, you would never need to work a single day, I am lucky to be able to enjoy my work which is teaching, I agree with you about going for a few short breaks rather than one long break

    1. Yes, that's true but then, there are still some stress there. Even building a complicated Lego set can be stressful too though we enjoyed it. We always needed to balance ourselves.

  2. Sibu would be great for a short getaway like on a long weekend. Check the dates, book the AA tickets earlier, JB-SBW--JB - can be real cheap, cheaper than taxi from KL to KLIA...return!

    2. Nobody there to take you round to enjoy the best of the best in the city...and there, you need to rent a car - cannot get around without one...unless you have friends there to drive you here and there and take you to enjoy what is good.

Otherwise, at best, you may get to eat what you can find around the hotel...and most may suck big time...and like many others before you, you will conclude that Kuching food is no good. Ignorance is bliss!!!

  4. definitely a good move to go on short vacations over the weekend once in a while to unwind ourselves.. work has surely given us pressure, big or small, so it's good to go for a breather and relax ourselves.. recharge and get back to work and we can probably get more efficient.. :)

  10. Year end is coming. I'm busy trying to plan short getaways here and there too. I don't feel like going too far as Ayden is still young. Will go further when he is older.

    1. The best is to go for cruise with small kids around. When Nicole was 4, I brought her there as flying to other countries is not so convenient. Else, there are a lot of places in Malaysia to visit.

  13. You are right..we have to take time off to de-stress..I enjoy reading blogger friends' blog posts, I always find time to do that each day. In order to watch our spending, we have reduced on going vacation both near and far. Reading traveling blogs will bring me round the world for the time being..:D

  16. Good that you enjoyed the staycation which was just nearby. Happiness is all around us but many failed to see.
I would suggest that you go to Penang where excellent food and hotels are very cheap for Sin Dollars!
