Sometimes I find it kinda amused when my direct sales friends were so happy when the haze strikes. The reason is because that's the opportunity for them to sell their powerful air purifier and they can gained a lot of value points should the transaction went through as it's an expensive product, if I am not wrong, around RM4K-RM5K. No doubt that it is a good and premium product but I find it a bit overkill for the price. (Sorry, I am not going to mentioned the brand here...) The product have a lot of functions which can even filter microbes, not to mentioned that it's compliant to the HEPA standard and anytime, can filter all the haze particles. Well, to me, I guess much cheaper alternatives which are HEPA compliant are good enough, for something that occurs only once a year or two years, for a duration of somewhere between 2-3 weeks. Unless they have a need like family members suffering from asthma and etc, most of the time, the air purifiers will be kept somewhere till the haze returns. I also remember folks in SG were panic buying the air purifiers till out of stocks when the PSI gone up to 400 back in 2013. Some of my friends even go to the extent of importing the device from overseas via online shopping.
I think it's good to have one in order to ward off the bad smell and filthy air but as long as the purifier meet the requirements, I don't think we needed to spend a fortune on something that's not frequently used. By the way, clear skies returns and I managed to go for a 13KM run last Thursday night. It was so good.
Oh.. I am back to Kinsahi Japanese Restaurant since my kids love it.

Let's hope the haze will be gone forever this year ! Have a good week!
Shabu shabu? Now that has triggered a craving in me for steamboat! Gotta have one over the next few days, my girl is home - school holidays! Our own at home, cheaper...and nicer, no msg.
ReplyDeleteSTP - hahaha...finally I trigger your appetite! Yeah, prepare at home is healthier and cleaner too!
DeleteI guess sales people will always take advantage of the current situation to boost their sale. :P
ReplyDeleteThat's a good meal you had. :)
lina - Yeah lor ...they even asked me to buy.... I ask them ' you give the money ah ? if yes, then I buy lor'... hahaha... It seems so easy for them to ask people to buy something , like buying sweets.
DeleteYeah, I saw a lot of mummies asking for air purifiers in the mommies forum too.. Only during this hazy season, more mummies ask for it.. Most of them buying from Cosway, a few hundred bucks only.. And even more not buying anything, they just on the aircond, coz they say the aircond has the same purifying function..
ReplyDeletePrincess - I guess as long as it meet the HEPA standard, that should be good enough unless they buy it for certain conditions , then they needed a more powerful purifier.
DeleteAir cond also have the filter but maybe it may not be strong enough.
Hopefully the haze will go away fast fast...
ReplyDeleteSeems ok lately...it rains tonight too! :)
DeleteDirect sales products are mostly overpriced, if you ask me. We end up sponsoring the uplines for their achievement trips overseas. Anyway, love the food you and your family had at the Japanese restaurant!
ReplyDeletePhong - That makes sense too but I do use direct sales products for those that I needed.
DeleteYes, the haze has been really bad, it keeps coming back every year! They need to do something!
ReplyDeleteKen - aiya ...what to do ...
Deletewhen i saw the title, it actually reminds of me Scarlett Overkill!!! do you have a slight idea of who she is?? hehehe, she is the villains in Minions Movie, sound by Sandra Bullock~~ :p
ReplyDeleteSk - huh? Dunno about it cos I didn't watch it. I only know Scalett Witch or Scarlett Johanssen...hahahaha
Deleteokay, so your overkill in this post definitely is not about her, but about the killing price of the air purifier sold by your friends.. hmmm, it's good to purify our air but then how do we know if those purifiers are really working?? most of them time, it's just mentally or psychologically feeling that the air breathed in is better because there's a purifier, but the truth?? hahaha.. anyway, the haze is getting lesser these few days and i can see sunlight..
ReplyDeleteSK - Yeah lor... I think the price a bit overkill for something that is needed for 1-2 or maybe 3 weeks per year or two years, unless it's meant for some condition like severe asthma and etc.
Deletewah, lesser haze and you also go celebrate with some scrumptious and sumptuous Japanese food huh?? hehehe.. looks good and i like maki and shabu-shabu, slurps!!!
ReplyDeleteSK - hahahah... haze or no haze still gotta eat right ?
DeleteDrooling over your sushi makis. Love that roes.
ReplyDeleteI have an air purifier at home but hardly use it. Now sit idly in storeroom. Lol.
Rose - Yes, that's exactly what I meant. No need to spend a fortune on it as long as it meet the requirement of filtering the haze (meet the HEPA standard)
DeleteJust went Kiseki at Orchard Central for Japanese Buffet just now, my fix for craving of buffet
ReplyDeleteLibby - hahaha... hope you enjoy your buffet!
DeleteThe haze is getting lesser now
ReplyDeleteThe haze will not end so fast if you can monitor the hot spots in Indonesia which are bigger than whole Malaysia!!!
ReplyDeleteThe air purifier is a very good product and overpriced because they are new.
I would shut all my windows at home and use air con to filter all the bad haze. It is better than nothing.
Your Japanese food always rotate in the menu. Oh well, I do enjoy them a lot besides being coffee addict.
Happy exercising!
I see that Japanese cuisine must be a favorite of yours and your family, Chris. ^^ Ah, the haze.... from the pictures that my friends are posting/sharing, it looks reaaaally bad. =/
