Somehow I felt some of the best fish soup are found in Singapore. Or well, maybe I am not aware of other places in Malaysia. I really like this type of fish soup which contains lots of thick chunky fish meat and a very delicious soup, added with fresh milk. There were also slices of ginger added into the soup. I didn't really see much of this type of fish soup in JB or other places in Malaysia.
I also realised there are many food courts in Singapore selling this delicacy which also includes fish head noodles. At around S$5, I think it is affordable with all the chunky fish meat in a great tasting soup!
No sign of the noodles, all fish & veg. This is the milky soup type or different? Soup does not look milky. Not a fan of too much ginger. Heaty...will make me feel ill.
ReplyDeleteFish soup isn't something I have ever tried (well, I have had clam chowder). But perhaps the places that I have eaten here in Montreal don't have this dish. It looks good.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I agree with suituapui on the ginger. I do like ginger, but am more used to it in tea. I don't like hot and spicy foods.
ReplyDeletehave to know also you're comparing the fish soup to how many stalls and how many states! LOL
ReplyDeleteThe fish is quite big! And the color of the soup is interesting, hehe...
ReplyDeleteYea, the fish noodles i had in Sg were really good, the fish meat was so smooth and firm but not cheap after conversion :(
ReplyDeleteyes, i saw like the fish meat noodles is one of the sure-have stalls in foodcourt in SG.. errr, i actually think they are similar things to the fish head noodles here woh, no such thing in JB ke??
ReplyDeletei had one in SG and not bad also.. because they use chunks of fish filet, unlike here mostly use fish head which i do not like lah.. no meat one, i prefer chunky fish lor just like you..
ReplyDeleteand ginger is a must to get rid of the fishy smell.. and it would be nice if they have lots of salted veggie, tomatoes and toufu in the soup.. it depends on my mood, sometimes i opt for without milk, sometimes i opt for with milk.. :)
ReplyDeleteI like fish noodles with lots of ginger..
ReplyDeleteStp - the noodles were all immersed under the ingredients. I haven't touched it yet.
ReplyDeleteLinda - this is a local dish which I believe you may not get it in Montreal . Come over to this part of the world to savor the food here.:)
ReplyDeleteLinda -well,it depends on how the ginger slices are used. Over here, it's more to softens the raw smell of the fish.
ReplyDeleteLina - Mostly jb and Ipoh. Hard to find this type of fish soup.
ReplyDeleteHayley - Yeah, I love the big chunks of fish meat there.
ReplyDeleteKen - wow..you tried it before too ! Aiya...don't convert !
ReplyDeleteSK - Not do I know of in jb. But there were plenty in SG.
ReplyDeleteSk - Somehow stalls in SG more generous. Even prawn mee also have big prawns, but then, they charge more.
ReplyDeleteSk - yeah, that's the purpose of the ginger. Not sure about the rest you mentioned.
ReplyDeleteWenn - yummy !!
ReplyDeleteif to convert then price is similar to KL price la. But such chunky meat worth it leh
ReplyDeleteIf we want chunky meat, probably need to pay for extra.
